Dr. Stephen Goldman is board certified in Ophthalmology and has been in private practice at Society Hill Ophthalmic Associates since 1990.
Dr. Goldman is a Clinical Assistant Professor at both the University of Pennsylvania and Thomas Jefferson University.
He is on staff at Pennsylvania Hospital where he has served as the Chief of the Ophthalmology Section since 1999 and is also on staff at Wills Eye Hospital. He specializes in comprehensive ophthalmology with clinical interests that include small incision no-stitch cataract surgery, astigmatism correcting and multifocal intra-ocular lenses, glaucoma and micro-invasive glaucoma implants, and the treatment of dry eyes.
Dr. Goldman grew up in New York and moved to Philadelphia to attend the University of Pennsylvania where he graduated with honors and then attended the Medical College of Pennsylvania. After completing two years of an Internal Medicine residency at M.C.P., he then completed his residency in Ophthalmology at New York Medical College where he was named Chief Resident his final year.
Dr. Goldman has received recognition in the Best of Philadelphia Doctors issue of Philadelphia magazine, Who’s Who in Ophthalmology, America’s Top Ophthalmologists and Doctor of Excellence by the Leaders in Healthcare Network. He has also received several Silver Apple awards from the University of Pennsylvania’s Scheie Eye Institute for excellence in resident teaching.
Dr. Goldman is a member of numerous medical organizations including Fellow status in the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, AMA, Pennsylvania Medical Society, and the Philadelphia County Medical Society.
Dr. Goldman is married and lives in Montgomery County with his wife. He is the proud father of two young men. In his spare time he enjoys travel, music, and sports.
